Until I saw the question on this list, it'd never occurred to me
that he could be anything else, but on rewatching the scene, it
seems a classic cliffhanger. We don't see the wound, which
could be in the upper back, and Willie's eyes aren't open (tv short-
hand for corpse) when Wallace removes his sunglasses. And Wallace
*could* be just about to call for medical help just as the scene ends.
Are there any SB post-"Opposite Numbers" fan stories that deal
with Neil and/or Willie? For that matter, how do others think
Neil would have reacted if Willie was dead--that is, would he
have reconsidered staying on as D.Ops., feeling his errors
in judgement brought about the loss of another Sandbagger (and
his best friend)? Or gone on, just as he did after Laura's death?
