I think there's a fair probability that Neil cannot type. I went to a
"grammar school" (college-track junior high and high school combined)
for a little while in 1972. They did not teach typing and did not require
papers to be typed. In fact, they preferred everything written with
a fountain pen (ballpoints were declass'e).

I've met a fair number of older academic men in Britain, and to a man,
they cannot type. Typing is a "trade;" it is not a skill that a
gentleman acquires. I think both Willie and Mike typed their reports
in a painfully slow hunt-and-peck fashion.
