It's entirely possible the programme was concerned strictly with the ARVs
which remain somewhat controversial in some quarters. Certainly the
weapon compliment you described conforms to the standard Met ARV kit.
The press have a nasty habit of grossly misrepresenting anything to do
with national or public security (and then lambasting the powers that be
when the police and security agencies are overcautious, viz the Michael
Smith espionage case). I'm sure they'd have a grievously
misrepresentative field day with ARVs. They'd probably make it look like
police dogs have nerve-jacked flechette miniguns in implanted in their
noses if they could.
Not that I'm bitter about the press, you understand.
Okay, so maybe I am. So much of my work on British intelligence seems to
be trying to set record straight on stuff the journos have f***ed up.
Can't live with 'em, but wouldn't want to live anywhere the free press
was nix, 'though.
