No flames from me - I agree with what you say about the exaggerated
"Americanisms." Much as I love British drama, the stereotype is something
that's done quite a lot . Ever notice how the CIA figures in the Bond movies
are all loud, good ol' boys ? "Hey, JIMBO !!" And Masterpiece Theatre
presented a fun 3 parter a few years ago called "Sleepers", about 2 Russian
agents planted in Britain who were forgotten for 25 years. The Americans in
that show all sounded like cartoon Texans, too. (No offense intended to any
Texans who may be on the list !). Jeff Ross even slouches and "galumphs" when
he walks. But then, with this latest nonsense from Washington, who can blame
the rest of the world for thinking we're a bunch of rubes ?
As to the final episode and Willie's demise, I have to say that I prefer to
watch it wearing my designer rose colored glasses. I KNOW what happened, but
I pretend that Willie got to the ER on time and was simply wounded. I also
think Judge Crater's coming back any day now .
