I see that in your next post you are responding to the episodes I
mentioned. We are in agreement on the astuteness of Neil's assessment of
the Utara situation in A Proper Function of Government. I would still
like to hear your assessment of his effort to manipulate Wellingham.
You do mention his fatal manipulation of Alan's girlfriend. It
seems that while you condemn the action, you are just more willing to
forgive him this kind of treacherous connivance than I am. I don't feel
Neil was driven to it in order to protect the service. Albeit it was
part of his concern, but it was a choice and rather obviously in this
case the wrong choice. We just give different weight to the same action.
