He did have a photo of Laura at some point and I seem to recall seeing it
in later episodes.

I don't think so. I seem to recall either Wellingham or Peel commenting
on his belief that he needed to have his mind clear at all times in case
an operation came up. Something about Sandbaggers depending on him.

Actually it reminded me more of a hotel room than an apartment where
someone lived.

I have a Burnside kitchen here.

I remember a comment that Peele made about getting the curtains cleaned
and Burnside responded that dirty curtains made it hard for somwone to
see inside the office. I imagine that would also be a reason behind
keeping the office tidy. If the office is tidy all the folders remain in a
pile, closed and no documents would be in view from the outside. I don\t
think that Burnside ever left the office with open documents on the desk.
In fact the only time when he didn't close folders were with Dianne (and
later Maryann) and Willie.
