<< Think of "My Name is Anna
Wiseman", where he's "on his bike" because he's a better shot than
Willie; or how Neil looks to him for advice because of his SAS
experience; or his harrowing trip to the Soviet Union to rescue the CIA
agent and how calmly he pulls it off; or the bust out in Warsaw with his
best line of the series "Sorry to spoil your day." I'd say Mike did
pretty well, although he kept Neil and Willie both on a pedestal. >>
I agree completely. I'm sure he must have been growing on Burnside. I would
venture to say that the author develops Mike perfectly to assume the role of
Sandbagger 1 once Willie is shoot. Think of Mike looking Wellington in the
eye. "If your lying to me I'll have you sacked by morning." "Why would I do
that Sir"? This while he is the junior agent, supposedly with less nerve,
and he has entered into an illegal conspiracy with his boss. He was the next
Sandbagger 1 for sure and I think he would have filled the role well. I take
the opposite view that Mike character was developed very well. He shows on
many occasions that he is ready to follow Neil's ideology and sign up for
missions (Kingmaker was even an operation in the UK) he know were outside the
directorites scope. Mike Rules !!!!
